Puppy Gumbo grew from a simple concern: families deserve to understand what is going into the bowl.
Our goal is not to convince every dog owner to cook.
Our goal is to become a trusted educational resource for families who want to learn more about home-prepared feeding and work in partnership with their veterinarian.

After seeking guidance from AAFCO, Puppy Gumbo began contacting state feed-control officials to better understand state-specific boundaries and responsibilities. The public record shows the outreach, what was learned, and what remains in progress—without implying endorsement or approval.
What It Takes to Do This Right
Developing forty dependable recipes requires qualified veterinary nutrition guidance, recipe-specific premixes, laboratory work, testing, and continuing review. “Let’s Get Real” explains why this mission requires substantial funding—and where Puppy Gumbo intends to direct its resources.
Our goal is to direct the overwhelming majority of available project funding toward professional formulation, testing, recipe validation, and the premix system required to do this responsibly.
